“Green Lantern” cast by Ryan Reynolds

The long search of Warner Bros is now over as Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds 32 is chosen to play the title character in the movie "Green Lantern", which is the studios live-action movie based on the DC Comics hero. Reynolds will be the first actor to portray a film superhero for both Marvel and DC Comics film adaptations.

It was reported earlier that there was a three-way race for the role between Reynolds, Bradley Cooper and Justin Timberlake but finally Reynolds was selected to play the leading role in this movie. The film is being directed by Martin Campbell and produced by Donald De Line and Greg Berlanti.

Reynolds recently starred in a comic book movie, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," in which he played Deadpool. The character is being developed for a spin-off in which Reynolds is attached. “Green Lantern” is Reynold’s second attempt at a DC Comics hero. Before few years, he was attached to play the comic company's speedster "The Flash." The movie Green Lantern will be open on June 17th 2011. The studio is still working on the picture’s budget but production is expected to commence in January 2010.
