‘Fast Five’ opened to a big $86.2 million in the last weekend of April for Universal Pictures so the studio fast tracked another installment of the franchise for two years later for the untitled Fast and Furious 6 project. Universal recently announced that the forthcoming flick will hit theaters across United States on May 24, 2013, also a Memorial Day weekend. A Fast and Furious 6 promo poster was shown by the Universal if you remember, last week at the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas, therefore the 2013 release date was already known.
The studio claims that Fast and Furious 6 will include the most dangerous adventures yet for speed-racing heroes. The 6th installment will be written by Fast Five screenwriter Chris Morgan, probably Justin Lin will return to the director's seat, whereas Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and other co-stars will reprise their particular roles. To co-produce the film with Diesel Neal, H. Moritz will also return. Universal has also picked up June 28, 2013 for the horror-comedy R.I.P.D. ("Rest in Peace Department") in which Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges play dead police officers who patrol the dead beat.
