All that motivates him is the 'TO-DO LIST' that he makes every morning. One day, he comes to know that he is going to die very soon and the doctor gives him the life of at most 3 more months. After coming to know of his impending death, Amar Kaul makes a 'List of THINGS TO DO BEFORE HE DIES'. In this, he lists all those things that he always wanted to do, but somehow was never able to do.
