Bruno slapped with an NC-17

Posted By totalfilm.com on Mar 30, 2009   FROM: rss.feedsportal.com report abuse

Whoops… Looks like some of Sacha Baron Cohen’s antics are a little too risqué for the notoriously staid MPAA across the pond: Bruno is rated NC-17.

The rating – which means many UA cinemas won’t carry the movie – is generally acknowledged to be a kiss of death for any movie.

But don’t expect that situation to stay for long. Universal is already planning to edit the film down to a more tolerable R rating, just as happened with Borat (below).

So what made the US ratings board froth and seethe? Seems it’s “a number of sexual sequences”.

Unrated DVD action ahoy!
