Sacha Baron Cohen’s latest comic character to hit the screen – Bruno – has topped the box office charts across the pond with $30 million.
While it just nudged ahead of Borat’s figures, it was released much wider, which means it’s likely not going to be quite as popular.
Still, its first weekend put it ahead of Ice Age: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs ($28.5 million) and Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen ($24.2 million).

In fourth place, Public Enemies held up decently, while The Proposal snatched fifth.
The week’s other new release – teen com I Love You Beth Cooper, could only manage a paltry seventh place opening with $5 million.
