Because it seems like at least a week since Guillermo del Toro talked about The Hobbit, he’s been spilling a bit more info on the anticipated film. Up until now, there had been thoughts that three films – two Hobbit adventures and a third to bridge the gap between that story and the Rings films - would be spawned from the collaboration between del Toro and Peter Jackson. But now GDT has nailed it down to two. “I’m doing only two movies because I felt that that was the best way to service the book,” the director told MTV. “I’m not saying the other notion was not discussed. We discussed it a large degree. But I felt that for me, the two films were the way to go.” “There is a moment in the book where something is accomplished that allows us to say, ‘Okay, on to the next one after this.’” Brendon over at Slash Film suggests that it’ll be the point at which Bilbo and his dwarf companions escape the Mirkwood elves, which seems like a solid call to us. If you have other ideas, throw them into the comments. Oh, and del Toro also revealed that he’s finally close to revealing who will take on the iconic role of Bilbo, as played by Ian Holm in the LOTR films… [Source: MTV] So, who could play Bilbo? Who do you want?
