The new fall drama series "Parenthood," which was supposed to anchor NBC, has been suddenly pushed to midseason to accommodate an 8-week medical evaluation for cast member Maura Tierney due to her illness according to the statement NBC released on July 10.

There are no more details released about the illness or condition required by the 44 year old actress Maura Tierney. The network released a statement explaining that it was unable to give further details and told to give respect to her privacy at this time.

The new show is based on the 1989 Steve Martin movie was scheduled to begin production on July 27 but due to a medical evaluation that Tierney is undergoing, NBC had set a September 23 premiere date for the 8 p.m. drama.

Parenthood depicts the relationship between four siblings (Maura Tierney, Peter Krause, Erika Christensen, Dax Shepard) and their parents (Craig T. Nelson and Bonnie Bedelia). Tierney plays a role in this series as a single mother with two teenaged children. The new medical drama Mercy will take place instead of Parenthood.
