Kumbh Mela is gathering of Hindu pilgrimage. Maha Kumbh Mela is also known as the great Kumbh Mela. It takes place four times every twelve years and rotates among four locations, namely Prayag (Allahabad), Haridwar, Ujjain, and Nashik. The up-coming Maha Kumbh Mela is held at each destination on the completion of 12 years.

It is one of the sacred pilgrimages of Hindus. Maha Kumbh Mela is a ceremony in which the largest numbers of worshippers, who come from all parts of the country to gather the holy men as in sadhus, yogis, ascetics who have devoted their lives in the attachment of Lord. On a single day millions of people attend the Kumbh Mela. The main incident of the festival is a ritual bath at the depositories of the rivers in each city. Additional activities include devotional singing, mass feeding of holy men and women and the poor, religious discussions and assemblies where many people talk about the lord. The yogis are seen dressed in saffron with bounty of ashes and powder applied on their skin. Many called Nanga Sanyasis supposed to seen without clothes even in strict winter. Huge amount of people come from different places for Ganga Snan (bath).

This is the program of the Kumbh, Purnima meaning ‘full moon’ and Amavasya meaning ‘new moon’:

15 January 2010 (Friday) - Mauni Amavasya and Surya Grahan (Solar Eclipse) - Second Snan
20 January 2010 (Wednesday) - Basant Panchmi Snan - Third Snan
30 January 2010 (Saturday) - Magh Purnima Snan - Fourth Snan
12 February 2010 (Friday) - Maha Shivratri - Pratham Shahi Snan - First Royal Bath
15 March 2010 (Monday)- Somvati Amavasya - Dvitya Shahi Snan - Second Royal Bath
24 March 2010 (Wednesday)- Ram Navmi - Fifth Snan
30 March 2010 (Tuesday) - Chaitra purnima Snan
14 April 2010 (Wednesday) - Baisakhi - Pramukh Shahi Snan.
28 April 2010 (Wednesday) - Shakh Purnima – Snan

In Maha Kumbh Mela all people are welcomed to stay there and experience the world’s largest religious gathering at the banks of the Ganga River. You can stay there at free of cost without any hesitation. People of huge amount gather at Kumbh Mela and enjoy a lot. People believe that by Ganga Snan they can get the Blessing of Lord.

Accomodations at Aashrams

Kindly keep the names and numbers of Aashrams that provide mass accomodation at reasonable rates. Pls also mention address and their phone numbers. For group visitors it will become easier to reach.
