She was born on 2nd September 1936 in Virginia Joan Bennett in Riverdale. She wrote a book on classical music, after her divorce with Ted Kennedy. Joan Bennett Kennedy's Early Life: The parents of Joan were wealthy Irish professionals and Joan struggled with alcoholism for many years. She modeled in advertising as a teen. She was student of catholic women’s school and Manhattanville College, a Sacred Heart Academy, where she met with Jean Kennedy. Joan had never heard about Kennedy, and Jean introduced Joan to Ted Kennedy as Law student of University of Virginia. Joan Kennedy's Marriage and divorce: Joan and Kennedy were married on November 29, 1958 in Bronxville, New York. Her brother-in-law had given her a nick name “the dish” because she looked beautiful and stylish. The couple had three children, daughter Kara Anne, son Edward Moore Kennedy, Jr. and Patrick Joseph Kennedy. Their two children had cancer, Edward Jr. had bone cancer which resulted a portion of a leg had removed in1973. Kara had lung cancer and was treated in 2003. Ted Kennedy, her husband was badly injured in a private plane crash, and had suffered six spinal fractures, and two broken ribs. In 1964 election, she had tried to settle herself into life of a politician and assumed campaign-appearance schedule. Her husband stayed in immobilize for several months, she campaigned for re-election to the Massachusetts senate in his stead. In July 1969, Ted was traveling with campaign worker Mary Jo Kopechne, on the island of Chappaquiddick in Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, that killed Mary due to car accident. At that time she was pregnant and cautioned to bed due to wake of two miscarriages, she attended interment of Kopechne. Ted pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of accident, she stood beside him, but she was falling apart privately. Thereafter she endured third miscarriage; and turned fully to alcohol for consolation. While Ted stayed in Virginia she moved to an apartment in Boston, in early of 1978 and they separated. In 1982 the divorce was confirmed, after one year to the day after filing for divorce. Later life: She struggled with sobriety. In 1988 she had crashed her car into a fence in Cape Cod. She was ordered to join an alcohol education program. But the class could not effect her drinking in least. She spent time in several treatment facilities, including St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City and McLean Hospital in Massachusetts. For some of the time, she got a master's degree in education and started to work with children's charities and taught children classical music, as a resident of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and Boston. She authored a book named “The Joy of Classical Music: A Guide for You and Your Family”. The Boston published an article on Kennedy that depicted her as a busy socialite and grand mother in 2000. Her children converted into her legal guardians, managing her $9 million estate. She had been sober for nine years. She was suffering from a concussion and a broken shoulder. She hospitalized after found lying in a Boston street near her home. Drinking was a main reason of her serious kidney problems. She was given imbibing mouth wash and vanilla extract in large doses to slake her thirst of alcohol. Her cousin Webster E. Janssen, financial planner has established a trust for controlling her estate in abuse of her son's guardianship. Her children took legal action against Webster E. Janssen.
