Hurt Locker Oscars, hurt locker 2009, hurt locker awards

After staring down James Cameron’s Avatar at the BAFTAs on Sunday evening, Kathryn Bigelow’s Hurt Locker Oscars’ prospects have considerably risen. The film, about a bomb defusal soldier in Baghdad, has taken the critics, if not the paying public, by storm. Dwarfed by Avatar’s proported $500 million budget it is seen as proof that films made on small budgets, in the Hurt Locker’s case only $15million, can stand neck and neck with Hollywood juggernauts.
