The Howard Stern Show’s staff counting longtime sidekick Robin Quivers, Baba Booey and Bubba the Love Sponge, are set to persist working on the program also throughout that time. It’s up to his staff now to negotiate their own renewals (separate salary agreements) with Sirius XM. The new salary was not revealed by Stern, which in his new deal was promised, although joked on his show on Thursday saying, "It's ballpark, 100 billion." Earlier five-year deal of Stern's is said to be valued at $500 million, which is set to expire at the end this year. It reported 600,000 subscribers before the month Stern signed with the service and now the figure has reached upto 20 million. Investors had been worried that if Stern left then the network's subscribers would dispose of the radio service. After the news of Stern's new deal the company's shares rise over 6 percent. Mel Karmazin, CEO of Sirius XM said the agreement was "good for SIRIUS XM and good for SIRIUS XM stockholders." Since the 1970s Stern has been a radio host and his show aired on TV. Following a clash with terrestrial radio stations he moved to satellite radio in 2006 where as Sirus XM is America's satellite radio company that broadcasts over 135 channels. |
