The "Road Hole", the 17th on the Old Course at St Andrews is one of the most famous golf holes in golf. So when the R & A decided to lengthen the hole by pushing the tee back. There was a hue and cries of, “Have ye gone off yer heid!” coming from the old guys in Scotland. Also young(er) guys in the New World, like Geoff Shackelford.
