Golf - The New Roads Hole

The "Road Hole", the 17th on the Old Course at St Andrews is one of the most famous golf holes in golf. So when the R & A decided to lengthen the hole by pushing the tee back.

There was a hue and cries of, “Have ye gone off yer heid!” coming from the old guys in Scotland. Also young(er) guys in the New World, like Geoff Shackelford.

If you haven’t been following this controversial decision regarding the change to the "Road Hole", there’s this from Brett Avery of Golf World’s Local Knowledge.

“During its annual spring press conference today the Royal and Ancient Golf Club officially unveiled changes made to the Old Course at St. Andrews for this summer's Open Championship, chief among them the lengthening of the 17th hole.
