The Legend of Zelda celebrates 25th Birthday

The high fantasy action adventure, ‘The Legend of Zelda’ celebrated its 25th anniversary on yesterday (21st February, 2011). The very first copy of the game was sold in Japan for Famicom on 21st February, 1986.  It is the creation of Japanese game designers Takashi TezukaandShigeru Miyamoto. Since April 2010, the series has sold up to 59 millions copies all over the world. The original game got fourth position in best selling out of any NES game. Currently, the series has total 17 games with 2 more in the works.

The upcoming title of the series will be Skyward Sword which will be appearing later this year for the Nintendo Wii. 1997s Ocarina of Time is considered itself as the most praised game in the whole series as well as become one of the greatest games of all time. Ocarina of time is also getting a 3DS remake which will be coming out in 2011 together with Skyward Sword for Wii. Since its release, Zelda series has achieved extensive commercial success as well as earned positive reviews from specialized industry. The Zelda series is also released in lots of forms like comics, cos-plays, cross-genre appearances, etc. It is the first game which got two perfect scores 40/40 from world-renown Japanese magazine Famitsu.
