The creator of a hit video in which stars of The X Factor are spoofed singing along to a rival Christmas single has said he wants it to be televised when the chart battle is won.

Figures show Rage Against The Machine are widening the gap over X Factor winner Joe McElderry in the festive chart race, building up a lead of more than 60,000 sales. The US band's 1992 song Killing In The Name is being seen as an anti-X Factor protest vote by music fans, triggered by a campaign on Facebook.
