Boyz II Men at Rockerfeller Center Tree Lighting

Today on November 30, 2010 the illumination of the world's most well-known Christmas tree will be broadcasted live at 8-9 p.m. ET/PT from Rockefeller Center in New York City by NBC. A Christmas tree will be featured in the 78th annual holiday extravaganza. The tress is of 74 feet high, 40 feet in diameter and weighs a whopping 12 tons.

The tradition was first started in 1933. Previously, the tress was being decorated with 700 lights and put at eight-month-old RCA Building, but now it is being placed at the GE Building. Improvement was seen in the Christmas tree gathering after 1936 with the opening of the Rockefeller Plaza outdoor ice-skating pond. In 1951, the tree lighting was televised first time by NBC-TV on "The Kate Smith Show" and as part of the nationwide "Howdy Doody" Television Show from 1953-55.

Many performers like Susan Boyle, Kylie Minogue, Katherine Jenkins, Charice, Sheryl Crow, Jackie Evancho, Josh Groban,Mariah Carey, Annie Lennox, Jessica Simpson, the Radio City Rockettes, and Boyz II Men will be performing at the star-studded holiday special. Many people are expected to gather to see the performance of these artists as well as light up their trees at the annual Lighting of the Tree in Rockefeller Center. They also will sip their hot chocolate.

Boyz II Men is going to rock tonight with their performance. The Boyz II Men trio tweeted yesterday, "Be sure to watch the lighting of the Xmas tree tomorrow night on NBC! We will be performing!!!" Boyz II Men is the best-selling R&B group of all time. They have won Grammy awards four-times. The concert of trio will be held during the US and Canada. Boyz II Men will also go for a short tour on February 11, 2011 to the Bahamas called "The Love Cruise". Several events, including a welcome party and the opportunity for passengers to renew their wedding vows to the tune of the band's romantic croons are included in this four-day trip.
