One would expect Sanjay Gupta and White Feathers Films to churn out films with lots of action, slick direction and hi-tech cinematography. White Feather Arthouse Films' PANKH does not fall in the same category. The film, a cinematic artistry, directed by Sudipto Chattopadhyay and starring Maradona Rebello, Bipasha Basu and Lilette Dubey, is quite nothing like Sanjay Gupta has made before or even any other Bollywood film. Though it portrays the grim reality of child artistes in Bollywood, it does so in a way that no one has done before. Other than the exploitation, it talks of the psychological repercussions of a boy playing a girl artiste and vice versa. |
