It took three attempts to secure the record, with the first effort disqualified due to a minor technicality and the second neglected after unwanted air movement. It was 13th free-diving world record of William Trubridge which set on the 13th of December. In 1980, Jacques Mayol was first who reached this historic depth (100m) but with aids. The 30-year-old, William Trubridge dedicated this 100 meters dive to New Zealand's Hector's Dolphin which is at present in danger of becoming destroyed. William Trubridge said, “It has been a long road to this magical depth, and I could not have done it without the support of an incredible team.”

He used yoga techniques in diving. How far breath-hold diving has developed and to what intense the human body and mind are able of coping are disclosed by the achievement of William Trubridge. The lungs fill with blood and the heart rate slows to the point where a diver can become confused, feeling either sleepy or euphoric at 100 meters. William Trubridge is a trainer for the Apnea Academy controlled over by Umberto Pelizzari.
