On Sunday November 21, 2010 at 12:28 the third of four full moons seen in a single season. It is called as “blue moon." Though the name of full moon is Blue Moon, its colour is not blue. To refer this event, the phrase ‘once in a blue moon' is used very frequent.

The Maine Farmer’s Almanac created the system for naming. There is an opportunity of second full or blue moon, if full moon falls on the 1st or 2nd day of a month because a full moon takes place every 29 1/2 days. The name "blue moon" derives from folklore. There is gap of about 2 and half years between blue moons.

The month containing 31 days have more chance of Blue moons than those that have 30 days. February month has a rare chance of any blue moons. The next double-blue-moon years will be seen in 2018, 2037, 2067 and 2094.

Now-a-days, a blue moon is recognized by many people as the second full moon in a month. No one exactly knows that what a blue moon actually is. According to previous centuries, the term blue moon means third full moon in a season that has four full moons.
