
These trees were knocked over when they were young; the number of "waves" in any given tree represents how many times the tree has been knocked down. Most likely they were knocked over by snowstorms. That hillside might have slumped or even "creeped" at one point, depending on the slope, but then stopped abruptly. If you look closely there are trees intermingled standing straight up. There's also so much more consistency in the picture with respect to the curve. Almost like the older the tree the more the curve. |
