We've seen quite a few proposals for the reconstruction of Haiti and architect Vincent Callebaut has now unveiled his own contribution - a utopian eco village inspired by coral. Called Coral Reef, the plug-in building for 1,000 Haitian families would be built upon seismic piers off the coast of the mainland with prefabricated, modular units that fit into a wave-like matrix as needed. Each passive home would minimize energy usage and renewable energy sources would make the entire project carbon neutral. |
