Construction of the highest building in China

The Shanghai Tower conducted by the firm Gensler San Francisco, composed of nine cylindrical buildings stacked on each other and covered with a double layer, once finished become the highest building in China with its 632 meters.

The building will be higher than the other 2 skyscrapers of the most famous Shanghai, the Jinmao Tower 420 meters high, completed in 1999 and the Shanghai World Financial Center 492 meters high completed last August, all are at the center of Lujiazui financial district.

In addition to offices, including the tower will house a luxury hotel, hanging gardens of new stores and a subway station.

The new building will be completed in 2014 and will cost more than 14.8 billion yuan (2.2 billion dollars), said its sponsor, the Shanghai Center Construction and Development Co.
