The $11 million Christmas Tree erected in the lobby of the Emirates Palace hotel in the Emirati capital, Abu Dhabi. This tree is over 42 foot tall and adorned with silver and gold bows, small white lights and ball-shaped ornaments. With 181 diamonds, pearls, emeralds, sapphires and other previous stones its branches are wrapped. The cost of the ornaments alone is estimated among 36,000 dirhams ($9,800) and 3.5 million dirhams. Business Traveller Middle East magazine awarded The Emirates Palace as the "Best Business Hotel in Abu Dhabi.” In the Guinness Book of World Records, The Emirates Palace hotel hopes to register the tree and presently the Guinness web site lists the most luxurious tree as a $10.8 million tree put in 2002 in Toyko with 83 pieces of jewelry from Piaget Japan.
