Tomorrow 22 July, 2009, The India will lucky to watch Total Solar Eclipse. It will be seen in India at 5.35 a.m. to 7.25 a.m.

It is predictable that there will be a total eclipse for the duration of 6 minutes and 47 seconds. This is considered as century's longest Total Solar Eclipse.

The Eclipse begins at 5:24 pm PDT. Between 6:37 pm PDT and 6:43 pm PDT, the moon will be completely covered by the sun. The total solar eclipse will be visible in India, some of the Japanese islands, China and Pacific Ocean. In India Surat, Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Varanasi and Patna are some of the cities lie close to the central part of the totality. The eclipse begins with the sunrise in the western part of India, travels to eastern part of India, crosses to Myna-mar (Burma), small islands of Japan and China.

Yesterday the Gujarat Govt. launched an official website dedicated to the total solar eclipse of July 22. With the Joint venture of Surat Municipal Corporation and the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

How to watch Solar eclipse

  • Obviously you can not just stare at the sun directly though it is a solar eclipse.
  • You must take one of those screens or lenses specifically available in market to see solar eclipse
  • If you do not have screen of lens then try seeing at online
