Joint CSIR-UGC Test 2009 for Junior Research Fellowship and Eligibility for Lectureship is conducted jointly by CSIR and UGC for selecting the appropriate candidates as research fellow . The training to the selected candidates is given under the guidance of expert faculty members of the University.

Eligibility Criteria:
Candidate must be Indian for applying for the Entrance examination.
For JRF (NET)
- Candidate must be between 19 and 28 years of age.
For LS (NET)
- Candidate must be more than 19 years of age.
• A candidate can apply either for ‘JRF + Lectureship’ or for ‘Lectureship (LS) only’.
• If a candidate is over-age for JRF (NET), will be considered for Lectureship (NET) only.
• Two separate merit lists,
- one for the candidates qualifying the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF - NET)
- Second, for those candidates who qualify the Eligibility Test for Lectureship (NET) are also be eligible for Lectureship (NET).
- The candidates who qualify for Lectureship will be eligible for recruitment as Lecturers as well as for JRF-ship in a Scheme/Project
- They will be eligible to pursue Ph.D. program fellowship other than JRF-NET.
- Candidates qualifying for the award of JRF (NET) will be rewarded the fellowship either from CSIR or UGC.
Details of Examination:
• Test will comprise of following subjects:
- Chemical Sciences
- Earth Atmospheric Ocean and Planetary Sciences
- Life Sciences
- Mathematical Sciences
- Physical Sciences
• Examination will be divided into two parts.
• Duration of test will be of 5 hours, each part comprising 2 and half hours.
• Both the parts of examination will be of 200 marks.
NOTE:
Negative marking will be made for wrong answers in Paper I. Paper II will be evaluated only in case of those candidates who will be able to secure a minimum of such aggregate marks in Paper I as may be fixed by the CSIR.
