Chemonics International seeks short-term technical specialists in energy and climate change, sustainable management of natural resources, and environmental governance for an anticipated USAID-funded China environment program planning assessment. The purpose of the USAID/ Regional Development Mission for Asia (RDMA) assessment is to ensure that the RDMA is using a comprehensive and strategic approach to address environmental challenges in China. Responsibilities include: contribute to an assessment report to review the strategic direction of RDMA's environment programs in China; assess the appropriateness of program approaches and provide recommendations aimed at maximizing RDMA's impact; and carry out stakeholder consultations, desktop research, international travel, and assessment writing. QUALIFICATIONS: advanced degree in a relevant field; minimum 10 years of experience working on similar donor- funded projects, environmental assessments, or reports related to clean energy, sustainable use of natural resources, and environmental governance; contacts in China, the United States, and international environmental communities a plus; experience working in Southeast Asia or China a plus; experience working effectively with USAID and other donors, international and regional organizations, government counterparts, and key stakeholders; ability to travel within China for seven weeks; excellent written and oral communication skills.
