Thousands of students, college lecturers and parents are expected to take to the streets for the latest demonstrations against Government plans to treble university tuition fees. In a letter to The Daily Telegraph today, the heads of 18 universities and colleges say fewer students will go on to higher education if MPs vote against the move tomorrow. The board members of Universities UK say that while they do not support the cuts of up to 80 per cent in teaching budgets, they believe that the Government's tuition fee proposals are "reasonable". |
