Sarah Palin Resign Alaska Governor Post Speech

The Republican Alaska Governor, Sarah Palin, who captivated the nation with a combative brand of folksy politics, announced her resignation on Friday at her home in Wasilla, Alaska. She stood on her back lawn in Wasilla and spoke into a single microphone, accompanied by friends and neighbors in baseball hats and polo shirts. Her speech rocked Alaskans and people around the country.

Sarah Palin was elected as a governor of Alaska in 2006. She told in the speech that she would step down by the end of the month and not seek a second term as governor and she is trying to position herself as a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012.

The rumors were spread from weeks for a criminal investigation against the governor had been brewing and it seems that these rumors are affected to Palin for her resignation. Another theory for the resignation is that the Palin would have to disclose the book deal as well as other financial details as governor.

Chuck Heath, father of Palin told Fox News that he thought her resignation was due to the negativity from the media. According to him, she was unable to be effective while she constantly had to defend herself against ethics complaints and the media. There are no official words that who will take place of Sarah Palin as Alaska Governor. To see the full text of Sarah Palin speech click here.
