New York 20th congressional District Election result 2009

The 20th congressional district of New York includes all parts of Columbia, Dutches, Delware, Essex, Greene, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Warren and Washington countries. And in that countries it include Gellen Falls and Saratoga Springs.

In US House election-2008 in New York's 20thdistrict,Kirsten Gillibrand who is in democratic party has majority of 68,033 votes against Sandy Treadwell in Republic party. Kirstern Gillibrand is the junior united states senat or from New York and a member of democratic party. She is the second female U.S. Senator from New York. and she was selected twice to the United States House of Representatives.

Before that in 2004 Election John E. Sweeeney who is in republic party has majority of 92,123 votes than Dorriskelly in Democratic party. He represented New York's 20th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives fromJanuary 1999 to January 2007. He was defeated for reelection in November2006 by Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand.

The polls open in this morning in New York state for the 20th congressional district special election. If you recall, this was the seat vacated by Kirsten Gillibrand who was appointed to replace Hillary Clinton in the US Senate.

News sources are reporting that the race to fill the House seat of former Congresswoman (now Senator) Kirsten Gillibrand is too close to call. The New York Times says that fewer than 70 votes separate Democrat Scott Murphy and Republican Jim Tedisco, both of whom have just under78,000 votes.Voters in New York's 20th District will vote today to fill the seat vacated by Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand. Democrate Murphy is facing state legistor Jim Tedisco in the race to fill a Republican leaning seat that came open when Kilstern Gillibrand was named to the US Senate Seatvecated by secretory of state Hillary Clinton.

At a Paterson announced her appointment, Ms. Gillibrand, who is considered a centrist and is known for her bold political moves, also expressed support for investing in high-tech industries, health care,transportation infrastructure and small businesses, and said she would call for tax cuts for middle-class families and lower property taxes. She won her first elected position in 2006, defeating a four-term incumbent in a traditionally Republican district that extends from the Hudson Valley flatlands to themountainous North Country.

The district has more than 196,000 registered Republicans compared to about 125,000 registered Democrats. There are more than118,000 voters who aren't affiliated with eitherparty. According to the latest Siena College poll on the race, Obama hasa 65 percent approval rating in the district, with 27 percent rating himunfavorably and 9 percent undecided. Gillibrand had a 78 percent approval rating.

That's the tack New York State AssemblymanJim Tedisco is taking in his campaign against Democratic venture capitalist Scott Murphy to win the seat in New York's 20th Congressional District vacated by KirstenGillibrand, who was appointed to replace Hillary Clinton in the U.S.Senate.
