Manmohan Singh takes oath of office as PM along with 19 cabinet ministers.

Today Prime Minister Manmohan Singh took oath with other 19 cabinet members to begin his second five year term. A 19-member Cabinet was under oath in along with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at Rashtrapati Bhawan on Friday evening in the first round of ministry configuration.

The 76-year-old, soft-spoken economist is the first Prime Minister since post-independence after Jawaharlal Nehru to be returned to office after completing a full term

Here the list of cabinet ministers who took oath toady.

  1. Pranab Mukherjee (Lok Sabha - West Bengal)
  2. Sharad Pawar (Lok Sabha - Maharashtra)
  3. AK Antony (Rajya Sabha - Kerala)
  4. P Chidambaram (Lok Sabha - Tamil Nadu)
  5. Mamata Banerjee (Lok Sabha - West Bengal)
  6. SM Krishna (Rajya Sabha - Karnataka)
  7. Ghulam Nabi Azad (Rajya Sabha - Jammu & Kashmir)
  8. Sushil Kumar Shinde (Lok Sabha - Maharashtra)
  9. M Veerappa Moily (Lok Sabha - Karnataka)
  10. S Jaipal Reddy (Lok Sabha - Andhra Pradesh)
  11. Kamal Nath (Lok Sabha - Madhya Pradesh)
  12. Vylar Ravi (Rajya Sabha - Karnataka)
  13. Meira Kumar (Lok Sabha - Bihar)
  14. Murli Deora (Rajya Sabha - Maharashtra)
  15. Kapil Sibal (Lok Sabha - Delhi)

There are six former Chief Ministers and two former Governors took oath as Cabinet Ministers this time. The Prime Minister will expand his Cabinet with more Cabinet and State Ministers next week. Former Ministers Arjun Singh, Lalu Prasad Yadav, Sis Ram Ola, Hans Raj Bhardwaj and Shibu Soren were dropped from the list, while Mamata Banerjee, SM Krishna and CP Joshi were the new inductions this time.
