S. Korean Former Korean President Kim Dae-jung Died

Breaking news of today, former South Korean President Kim Dae-jung of 85 died at 1:43 pm. Kim Dae-jung had been hospitalized for pneumonia since July 13 and died from heart failure according to reports.

He won Nobel Peace Prize winner for brokering the first summit between leaders of the rival Koreas. 

He was best known for his 2000 meeting in Pyongyang with North Korean leader Kim Jong-il which aided warm ties between the two states that have not yet officially ended their 1950-53 war.

Kim headed the so-called ‘‘Sunshine Policy" during his five-year tenure from February 1998 that used humanitarian and economic aid to broaden and deepen inter-Korean relations. Read more about Kim Dae-jung death.
