President Obama is paying his respects to America’s war dead Monday at a ceremony at the Abraham Lincoln Cemetery in Elwood, Ill., south of Chicago.

The observance is one of hundreds around the country to honor the fallen on Memorial Day.

Vice President Biden laid the wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery outside Washington, D.C., a tradition Obama participated in last year during his first year of his presidency.

The Lincoln cemetery is one of the newer cemeteries run by the National Cemetery Administration, which manages the burial plots for honorably discharged troops and their families.
