Iranian acid attacked woman forgives attacker

An Iranian woman Ameneh Bahrami who is victim of acid attack, pardoned a man who threw acid on her face on Sunday. Ameneh Bahrami had demanded qisas, a rarely used retributive justice under Sharia law, but the report said she had forgone that right at the last minute.

The court-ordered blinding of Movahedi was originally postponed at the 11th hour in mid-May, with no official reason given. Mohavedi poured acid on Bahrami’s face in 2004 for rejecting his marriage proposal, disfiguring her face and leaving her blind in both eyes.
