The world’s third richest person and well-known philanthropist, Warren Buffet will first-ever visit India to urge Indian billionaires for charity. Next month, global road show has been planned in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore with aim to persuade Indian billionaires for the pledge of philanthropy by donating a big chunk of their wealth. For this philanthropy act, the world's billionaires duo leading investor Warren Buffett and software visionary Bill Gates has created a program titled as 'Giving Pledge.' Image source: www.csmonitor.com Mr. Warren Buffet and Mr. Bill Gates have convinced the 59 American billionaires to take pledge for donating at least 50 per cent portion of their total wealth to charity that includes Ted Turner, David Rockefeller, Michael Bloomberg, and younger billionaire owner of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, but it may be a little hard with Indian billionaires. Following the US and china, India is third country which has 55 billionaires. Last year, leading business tycoon Azim Premji donated his $2 billion for education; such type of case rarely appeared in India because Indian billionaires have a very poor record of philanthropic. The duo has started 'Giving Pledge' initiative in the US in June 2010. Both have now planned to try for convincing Indian billionaires to be part of the charity. For that, they will be also taking break in to study of philanthropy adopted models that they did in China last year. Mr. Buffett will start his India tour after a day-long visit for TagueTec India company of an industrial township Bommasandra that located on the outskirts of Bangalore because he will look for his sole investment in the country. Currently, Buffett is owner of the $47 billion. He has scheduled to meet the top clients of TagueTec company including Hyundai, Tata Motors, and Bharat Forge and also important person of industry like Baba Kalyani, Infosys' Kris Gopalakrishnan, Sundaram group’s top executives and Biocon's Kiran Mazumdar whose manufacturing plant is sited close to firm of Buffett. After one night staying in the Bangalore, he will depart for Mumbai and Delhi where he will meet top billionaires and other philanthropists to urge for charity and take part in the global giving initiative.
