A heavy winter snowstorm churned its way up the Eastern Seaboard early Monday, dumping up to 11 inches of snow in parts of the Carolinas, with southern New England and Boston facing up to 15 inches of snow as the day goes on, the National Weather Service said. Monday's commuters in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; New York; and Boston, Massachusetts, could face a nightmare with blowing and drifting snow, freezing temperatures, gusty winds and periods of sleet and freezing rain. The Northeast is expected to receive 5 to 15 inches of snow, forecasters said. |
