The 120th Rose Parade will take place on Thursday, January 1, 2009 at 8:00 a.m. (PST) featuring spirited marching bands from throughout the nation, majestic floral floats, and high-stepping equestrian units. The Rose Parade will be broadcast on ABC, NBC, Univision,HGTV, Travel Channel, RFD-TV as well as KWHYand KTLA in the Los Angeles area. The Parade is also seen in more than 200 international territories.It is the 120th Rose parade held in Pasadena.
The parade, featuring 46 flowery floats, 22 marching bands and 18 equestrian units from around the world, began at 8 a.m. and lasted two hours.

The 2009 parade theme was "Hats Off to Entertainment.Rose Parade 2009The parade opened with a crowd-pleasing robot named Asimo -- on a float sponsored by Honda Motor Co. -- which shot fireworks and streamers out of its hat. Stephanie Edwards has been re-hired to host the Rose Parade with Bob Eubanks on KTLA.People were surprised to see Edwards on the show. The crowd also gave a standing ovation for a U.S. Marine Corps band from San Diego.The parade started at Ellis Street & Orange Grove. It continued North on Orange Grove then East on Colorado Blvd. to Sierra Madre Blvd., then north on Sierra Madre Blvd. to Paloma Street a total of 5 1/2 miles. One grand prize winner will receive a VIP trip for two to Pasadena and attend the 2010 Tournament of Roses Parade and Rose Bowl Game. The grand prize winner package includes a three-night, club level hotel stay at the five-diamond Langham, Huntington Hotel & Spa.
