49 out of 50 states in the United States currently have snow on the ground after Deep South winter storm that moved up the East Coast of the US more than the last few days. It is reported that more than 70% of the nation is coated in snow except Florida State is not touched by the snow. Image source: chron.com On Wednesday, 12th January 2011, the National Operational Remote Sensing Center (NORSC) reported that since NORSC started keeping records in 2003, this is one of the most extensive United States snow covers, at least 7 inches of snow is coated at the top of the dormant Volcano Mauna Kea, Hawaii and 3 to 10 inches of snow fell on Sunday at northern parts of the Mississippi State so it remains under extensive snow cover. Flights across the Northwest are being forced for cancellations and snarling traffic due to winter storms shut down most of the South and dumped snow. Hawaii's islands were wet by the rain on Wednesday and flash flood can be watched statewide till Thursday, afternoon. Traffic was created due to some traffic signals were not working by rain. |
