Romaine Lettuce Recall 2010

Romaine lettuce recalled for 23 states because of an identified outbreak E. Coli bacteria. Romaine lettuce is a variety of lettuce which grows in a tall head of sturdy leaves with a firm rib down the center. Unlike most lettuces, it is tolerant of heat. The lettuce has sickened at least 19 people in Ohio, New York and Michigan.

The romaine lettuce recall 2010 announced on Yesterday evening includes only shredded romaine lettuce. The FDA has confirmed that 12 people were hospitalized due to the outbreak on May 6th 2010.
