Richmond bridge shooting : 2 KilledA man is suspected of firing a shotgun at the entrance to a busy Richmond-San Rafael Bridge on Tuesday evening around 6 p.m. He was arrested on Wednesday after an overnight manhunt, said police. In shooting, a man killed 51-year-old Deborah Ross, a toll collector inside a booth, and a man in his 40s who was in a car in the parking lot of the toll plaza. Police identified Nathaniel Burris of 46, is suspected in the double murder, who was in a "dating relationship" and lived with Ross. California Highway Patrol officers arrested Nathaniel Burris around 3:15 a.m. on Wednesday in Placer County, about 120 miles northeast of the shooting at the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge toll plaza. Authorities said Burris was sleeping in an airport shuttle van, but drove off after CHP officers approached and surrendered after a short chase. Burris was booked into Placer County Jail on two counts of murder. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger released the following statement regarding the death of Ross on Tuesday that they are expressing their shock and sadness over the death of Deborah Ross. Deborah was a devoted and hard-working public servant and they are grateful for her dedicated service to their state. They send their prayers and condolences to Deborah’s family and friends during this difficult time. Deborah had worked for the California Department of Transportation for eight years.
