First superstar of Indian Cinema, Rajesh Khanna is no more. He took his last breathe today in front of his wife, daughters, son-in-law, grand children and relatives at his home (Aashirwad) in Bandra. Since 17th July night, he was on ventilator because of severe weakness and low blood pressure. He was 69 years old and suffering from unrevealed illness rumored to be cancer in the kidney and liver since April. After hearing this bad news, all the fans of Kaka (Rajesh Khanna) have gathered outside his bungalow. According to the family sources, the funeral will take place on 19th July (Thursday) at 11 a.m. in Mumbai.
Rajesh Khanna was hospitalized in April because of weakness and fatigue; then he got discharged in 3 to 4 days. He was again hospitalized on 23rd June at Lilavati Hospital as he was experiencing exhaustion and discharged on 17th July after being treated for 2 weeks.
He made his debut in Indian Cinema with "Aakhri Khat" in 1966. He appeared in more than 160 films including hits like Aradhana, Kati Patang, Do Raaste, Amar Prem, Safar and Anand. He was also a former Lok Sabha MP from 1992-1996. Wafaa is his last film and his first & last TV commercial is for Havells fans.
Mr Khanna was married to Dimple Kapadia but they were separated. They both have two daughters named Twinkle and Rinke. Dimple Kapadia took care of him throughout his illness.
