It is the worst natural disaster the country has experienced in recent years. But it was a calamity that is unexpected as typhoon Ondoy is a relatively weak storm compared to the howlers we've had in the past years. But what it brought was not the devastating winds that usually bring the damage but record breaking rainfall that caused massive flooding all around Luzon, most especially in Metro Manila. The rainfall brought by typhoon Ondoy (international code name Ketsana) to Metro Manila and nearby areas in a span of six hours was the most in recorded history, surpassing the previous record for the metropolis in Typhoon Ondoy continues to ravage the Philippines.
