Oscar Mayer Died At age 95
Oscar Mayer died at the age of 95 on Monday 6th July, 2009. He died from complications of old age in Fitchburg at a Hospice Care. He was retired chairman of the Madison based meat processing Company. Oscar Meyer products are the most reasonable and delicious solutions to any hot dog or sandwich ever form turkey to bologna.
His wife said Oscar Mayer died from complications of old age. He was the third Oscar Mayer in his family that established Oscar Mayer Foods. He was Madison’s biggest private employer.
He was retired as a chairman of the board in 1977 at the age of 62 after that the company recorded its first $1 billion year. The company was later sold to General Foods and is now a business unit of Kraft. Mayer’s Public visitations are conducted from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Cress Funeral Home.
Mayer's grandfather bought a slaughtering in Madison in 1919 and the company turned headquarters to Wisconsin. In 1936 Mayer joined his family business. The basis of their success was the weisswurst, bratwurst, and liverwurst made by Gottfried, a trained wurstmacher from Nurnburg.
