Organ donation is the good act as it saves the life of other people. It is the donation of an organ or biological tissue of the human body from the living or dead person to a living person in require of transplantation. The Nuffield Council on Bioethics has listed many ways to motivate people to donate more body parts such as blood, eggs, sperm, and other organs. The NHS has got the idea of paying funeral expense to the organ donors from the Nuffield Council. The National Health Service (NHS) will pay funeral cost to encourage people to register for donation of their organ like kidneys, livers and other organs. The NHS could pay reasonable cost between £1,500 and £5,000 as thousands of pounds go on funeral cost. There are 8000 people on waiting list for life saving operation in the UK due to the shortage of organ donors. There is a big concern about this benefit because many families could register their sick relatives to get the benefit of funeral expenses. The government of UK should offer such scheme to check the public support for the idea of funeral expenses. After the NHS proposal, the registration of Organ Donors is at record level i.e. around 30 percent people from the 18 million population. But the aim of NHS is to increase this to 25 million by 2013. The NHS also pays big amount or full expense to those who are giving donation of eggs and sperm for research and fertility treatment. |
