The Longest and Darkest lunar eclipse takes place Tonight

Don’t miss the chance today to see the longest and darkest lunar eclipse. If you miss this chance, then you have to wait for one century. Today, you will see century’s longest and darkest lunar eclipse which will run for approximately 100 minutes. In the full lunar eclipses, the moon will be plunged intensely inside the darker shadow of the earth.

The full lunar eclipse will be visible between 12.52am and 02:32am, while the partial eclipse will be visible from 11:52pm to 03:32am. The total eclipse will be visible fully in Central Asia and Africa. It will be also seen in the some other country including South America, Europe and Western Africa as well as Eastern Asia, and Australia. The last eclipse to surpass this length was in July 2000. The next this type of eclipse will be visible in 2141.

Generally, the lunar eclipse happens when the Earth, in course of its move around the sun, comes between the sun and moon so that Moon is hidden in the shadow throw by Earth. But this type of lunar eclipse occurs only when the earth, moon and sun are aligned in a straight line. Sky enthusiasts can view the complete cycle of the occultation in the group of Ophiuchus. Today, the moon will hide at the back of the star 51 Ophiuchi at At 11:29 p.m. After 90 minutes, the star will re-emerge at 01:01 a.m. of June 16.
