India & Russia Sign Nuclear Deal

Space Cooperation report: India and Russia have signed agreement about Nuclear Deal.

India and Russia have signed an agreement for Russia to build up four additional atomic reactors in the Koodankulam nuclear plant in Tamil Nadu.

Manmohan Singh has said that he had detailed negotiations on aspects of Indo-Russian relations, including terrorism, Russian President Medvedev. Russian President Medvedev also expressed its condolences to the families of all victims of Mumbai attacks.

Thursday Atomic Energy Community, the President of the Commission Anil Kakodkar expressed the confidence that the 1,500 MW nuclear power plant would be added to the national grid in 2009, the country was ready to benefit from civilian nuclear energy sector cooperation agreements with Russia, France and the United States. Dr. Kakodkar said he planned nuclear power plants consist of 6-8 units of 1000 MW each constructed over the next 9-10 years.

"The nation now has the capacity to produce 4,120 megawatts of nuclear power, but because of a lack of nuclear fuel, most departments have already been slightly more than half of their capacity," he said, and address, 11 India Power Forum. "Our goal is to produce 10,000 MW through PHWRs, about 5000 MW through imported reactors and some 2500 MW through the Fast Breeder Reactors," he said.
