Special Indo-Malay delicacies dishes such as dodol, ketupat, lemang and more are served during this festival of Eid. People meet one another by saying “Selamat Idul Fitri” or “Salam Aidilfitri” that means “Happy Eid”. Idul Fitri is not only for partying but a time for amends to request forgiveness for sins that may be committed by people but was purified by fasting in the Muslim month of Ramadan. So people welcome one another with “mohon maaf lahir dan batin” and “maaf zahir dan batin” in Indonesia and Malaysia that means “Forgive my physical and emotional wrongdoings”.
