The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. is a global investment banking and securities firm. On April 16th, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced that it was suing Goldman Sachs and one of its employees, Fabrice Tourre. SEC alleged that Goldman materially misstated and omitted facts in disclosure documents for a synthetic CDO product it originated called Abacus 2007-AC1.
According to news report, "The Financial Services Authority said it was investigating Goldman Sachs, as it emerged that the watchdog had not been told about the controversial dealings of the Frenchman at the centre of the fraud lawsuit."
