DIG Ashok Kamte (Commissioner of Police) have been killed by the terrorists in an encounter at Cama Hospital.
Police Ashok Kamte was DCP, Zone 1 in Mumbai, and was also a key officer in the state police. He had also served as Commissioner for Solapur and has always been known to be in the thick of the action.

The attacks began in south Mumbai around 9:30 as the business district wound up for the day, and hotels and restaurants were filled with guests - a sharp contrast to the serial blast in local trains in July 2006, as targeted passengers during rush hour commuting hours of work.
Terrorists sprayed bullets from automatic weapons and hurled grenades at several nearly simultaneous strikes on more than a dozen spots around the city, including five-star Taj Mahal and Oberoi hotels, Victoria Terminus, vile parle, Santa Cruz, Worli and Leopold Cafe in Colaba.
A little known Equipment ~ "Deccan Mujahideen" ~ claimed reponsibility for the attack.

Several kinds of terrorism are at operation. There has been a huge power shift to India since 1998/99. The power that has emerged to destroy this new era of India is the nastiest. This power - or the terrorist group -started its first operation roughly around 2002 February (Riots that's in hands of Godhra Commission).People who have been working on it should absolutely be on nation's priority safety list along with their immediate family members.Masterminds work in terrible ways. They hire people who cannot be suspected to be their germs even in the wildest dreams. Three big police officers being killed shows what kind of intelligence we have.It also shows how careless we are about taking care of their dresses (bullet proof dress or whatever they are called). Who are they fighting for? The nation can't just sit happy with the respective safe jobs and not bother about people who are ready to give away their lives for our safety and prosperity.Nothing can be more shameful than an incident in which biggest police officers of the nation have been killed because their dresses were not safe enough to resit bullets. We want to see special safety dresses being made for our Police,tested and kept in all police head quarters in enough numbers. Please! Let's not be so incompetent. There is no urance that this kind of attack won't recur. Hope the Nation has made safe dresses for ATS and Police atleast

ARE THEY TARGETED AND FINISHED ON THE FIRST PHASE BY THEM
Mumbai Police Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) chief Hemant Karkare was among the dead. Two Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, additional police commissioners Ashok Kamte and Sadanand Date, were killed in separate gun battles with terrorists, the authorities said. Mumbai Police "encounter specialist" Vijay Salaskar were also shot dead in another gun battle. Karkare was heading investigations into several recent cases of terrorist attacks here.
What seems to be happening and how the issue has been diverted does not have any resemblence ot the death of three police men of top rank and directly involved and dealing with many previous terror cases of the country. All of them were targeted in different places ratherly precisely and killed...................and top of it there is no news of the encounter they were operating and how they were involved, as the whole episode started around 9pm on the 26th and in a couple of hours they were all there in the places and got themselves killed.
