The objective of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) is to provide accessible, affordable, accountable, effective and reliable health care, especially to the poor and the vulnerable sections of the population in rural areas. It aims also at achieving health indicators like Infant Mortality Rate (IMR), Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR), and Total Fertility Rate (TFR) to acceptable levels within the 7 year (2005-2012) period of the Mission. NRHM provides an overarching umbrella, subsuming the existing programs of the Ministry. Recognizing the importance of Health in the process of economic and social development and improving the quality of life of our citizens, the Government of India has launched the National Rural Health Mission to carry out necessary architectural correction in the basic health care delivery system. arogyakeralam is website for economic and social development. |
