Ancient Paint Factory found in African Cave

More than 100,000 years old Ancient Paint Factory has been found at Blombos Cave in South Africa by archaeologists. This ancient paint factory includes tools such as hammers & grindstones and ingredients that early Homo sapiens used to make, mix and store ochre. 2 abalone shells are also found. They were used to stock up ochre-rich mixture which was blended with bone and charcoal. Ochre traces remained on the apparatus and reddish compound samples were gathered in big abalone shells.

In this big abalone shells paint was liquefied, mixed and scraped out with a bone spatula. The early humans may have used this paint, to paint their bodies for protection or leather bags or other objects. As per researchers, this amazing finding proves that the humans were thinking in a modern way 100s of 1000s of years ago. Archaeologists named this finding, proof of early abstract capabilities a yardstick in the development of complex human cognition.
