Child marriage Unsuccessful Story
Cairo -An 8-year-old Saudi girl has divorced her 50 year old husband after her father forced her to marry him last year. Her father sold her for about $13,000. Saudi Arabia had been came under increasing disparagement at home and abroad for allowing child marriages.
The United States was a close supporter of the unadventurous Muslim kingdom. She married in August after an out of court settlement had been reached in the case.
The girl's mother requested for a divorce previously at a court in the central Oneida area was rejected at the time. There was a ruled that the girl would have to wait until she reached teenage years to file a petition then. There were no laws in Saudi Arabia defining the minimum age for marriage. In this situation woman's permission is legally required, but in some marriage officials don't try to find it.
This was not the only one case in the kingdom. Saudi newspapers have highlighted other cases in which young girls were married off to much older men or young boys. The child marriage had been opposed by Saudi Arabia's unadventurous Muslim clergy. In January, the kingdom's most senior cleric said it was permissible for 10-year-old girls to marry. In divorce cases man had given the girl's father 50,000 riyals, or about $13,350, as a marriage gift in return for his daughter. This cases became when they had been required money and they forgot their roles as parents. Now a days in Saudi Arabia minimum marriage age is 18 year.
